Abbi Glines: Existence Trilogy
I don't quite remember how I started reading Abbi Glines' books but if I'm not mistaken it was when I was browsing for recommended reads after I'd finished reading Kate Perry's Laurel Heights series [just so you know, the first installment to the Laurel Heights series - Perfect for You is currently free in Kobo's Australian store, not sure about the US, Canada and UK stores]. Anyways, the first book I read written by Abbi Glines was Fallen Too Far, I immediately fell in love with the story and her writing style and went on purchasing the second book Never Too Far. After completing the series, I knew I just had to read her other books. So off I went purchasing her Sea Breeze series and Existence series.
The books that I'm going to talk about today will be her Existence

So what's this trilogy about? SPOILER ALERT! I don't really want to spoil your reading but telling you to just read it won't convince you much to get it so I'll add a little bit of drops here and there but not really spoiling the whole thing. First of all, as mentioned earlier Leif is more or less telling the stories of Existence and Predestined from Leif's point of view and also what happen when Dank took Pagan away from Vilokan. This series is about a little girl who fell sick and it was her time to go but her mother seek help from the Voodoo God to save her daughter. The price was the soul of the little girl. The son of the Voodoo God (Leif) was her dark angel, he was always there for her but she doesn't remember it because he was soul-less so any memories of him will fade away in two months or so. Her name once again appears in the list, it was her time to go. Dankmar went to watch over her before her time was up because he was curious why would her name reappears shortly after it was cancelled (16 years or so). He fell in love with her. Instead of taking her soul, he saved her - changing her fate. What's his punishment? What happens after? Will she fall in love with her dark angel or will she choose the being that wandering souls were afraid of and humans hate, the God of Death or be with her soul mate? That's as much of what I'll tell. It's really an interesting story and definitely refreshing story. I'd expected a vampire sort of story from this series but it was nothing like Twilight Saga, hell it doesn't even have anything to do with vampires. It was more of soul mate, death, love, voodoo and fate kind of story, if you know what I mean. Ohhh and there's some really nice lyrics too because one of the character is a rock star (not telling you who though, you have to read to find out).
I forgot which book but definitely Ceaseless and either one of the other three books, the author sort of jumbled up with her characters. Like where it was supposed to be A and she wrote B, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure whether this happens in her printed version or kindle version but definitely her Kobo version. Nevertheless, I'd give this series 4.5/ 5. I'd say it's a definitely must read. My heartache while reading Ceaseless but like all love story, it has a happy ending. =')
