Review: Turboscan App for iPhone/ iPad
I'm sorry for the lack of update but I'm pretty busy with mid-semester tests and what not. Today will be an exception because I can't help but rave about TurboScan application for the iPhone/ iPad by Tania Sulimov.
I wish I knew about this app way before I attend university. This application is a life saver especially when note taking in tutorial is almost nearly impossible and that the lecturer/ tutor will not upload the answers on the portal/ subject page.
You know sometimes the answers are just too damn long to copy and before I can copy finish, the tutor has already move on to another slide and it just pisses me off because I wasn't able to copy everything and my answers will be just left hanging. There's no way to get the answers anymore because one, the tutor wouldn't email me the answers and two, it'll not be uploaded on the subject page, so what I'm left with is practically a half-ass answer. And why on earth would I want a half-ass answers?! It's not even helpful for revision, especially those that you just need all of it - like those long calculations answer type.
You say, why not just use take a picture using the camera app, why waste money and purchase a bloody app that functions the same way? Well, it doesn't function the same way, at least, not this TurboScan app. In the past, before I found out about this app, I used the camera app that comes with the iPhone and let me tell you, most times I'm stuck with a blurry picture that is hardly readable and doesn't make any sense at all.
With this TurboScan app, I can assure you that about 95% of the time, the picture that you take are readable. Some of it, can be hardly readable but it still is readable. I'll show you what I mean by hardly readable but still readable.
Most of the pictures that I've taken using TurboScan turns out like the above picture. Isn't it just wonderful? It's clear and readable. Best part it takes less than one minute to take it and you don't even have to be worried that it's not clear and you can even crop out the area that you need only. In addition, you get to choose to have black and white, or colour, or photo. Furthermore, you get to adjust the colour, like darker or lighter, to your convenience of reading it.
Below are the details about the app that I've copied from their iTunes page.
TurboScan uses advanced fast algorithms to auto-detect document edges, straighten the documents (correct perspective), eliminate shadows and set a perfect contrast. Is this app free? Unfortunately, no. It cost US$1.99 but I'd say it is definitely worth every penny. It's one of my favorite app and I can't stop raving about it.
TurboScan boasts a powerful yet easy to use interface. Get instant one-tap brightness, rotation and color controls all on one screen!
TurboScan also offers SureScan, our proprietary scanning mode for sharper scans (especially useful in low-light conditions.) SureScan requires taking three pictures of the same document with the iPhone camera.
TurboScan's handy "Email to myself" feature lets you send documents to a predefined address, or even upload them to online storage sites like Evernote, with a single tap.
All processing happens on your iPhone, and the confidentiality of your data is never compromised (no Internet connection needed.)
TURBOSCAN FEATURES:
• Automatic document edge detection and perspective correction
• Ultra-fast processing (under 4 seconds per page)

✚ Not recommended to use with iPod Touch 4 or iPad 2 camera (due to its low resolution).
✚ Works great with the iPod Touch 5 and is compatible with the iPad 3 or newer.
TIPS ON SCANNING
• Make sure your document is flat and well lit.
• Use flash in low light conditions, but avoid glare with glossy documents (magazines, etc.)

On my next post, hopefully two weeks from now, I'll post a review on Kindle App for iPad versus Kobo App for iPad. Until then, goodbye for now and before I forget, wish me luck for my mid-semester test because that's one thing I really need. =D
On a lighter note: I friggin' got a ROW B ticket to Bruno Mars' The Moonshine Jungle Tour on March 4, 2014 in Melbourne. And I'm gonna make March 4 one of my favorite date. Why? Because March 4, 2013 I saw Ed Sheeran performed live in Festival Hall, Melbourne and March 4, 2014 I'll be seeing Bruno Mars killing it in Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne! What a coincidence?!
