I HAVE A THING FOR PENS!

Yeap! The title says it all. I'm obsessed with pens, I don't know why....I just am. More so after I knew about Kickstarter. Whenever I come across a project that I like on Kickstarter, the first person I'd contact is my brother. And time after time, he would reply with "pen again", he then proceed with reasons on why I shouldn't be getting it and ends with I should just save to get a Montblanc than buying all these rubbish pens. Of course I want a Montblanc (who doesn't?! If I could get the Einstein roller ball edition, that would most definitely be a dream come through but I'd be saving for years to even be able to afford it. And by the time I have saved enough it would most definitely not be in stock any longer. So I'm always back to "why bother on something that I could never afford, especially not right now being a full time student, jobless and all?" mindset).

Anyways in this post, I'd be sharing with you: pens from Kickstarter - the ones I got, wish I got and I'm going to get.

1. Lunatik Touch Pen by Scott Wilson + MINIMAL
This was the first project that I've backed in Kickstarter. I was confident with this company because before the launch of the campaign, I was already their customer. They are famous for their iPod Nano watch strap and the quality of it is just top of the line. When I came across their pen on Kickstarter, I told myself that I need to own the pen in red (as I had the red watch strap). However, in the end, I backed for their "you are all in" category because my brother wanted the Kickstarter Anniversary Edition.

Do I like it? It's not my kind of pen. The tip is too large for my liking and the stylus didn't work well for me either. However, I like the overall feel of the pen. It has the weight to it but the tip just wasn't it for me.

Can you still purchase it? Yes. They do sell it on their website - the touch pen alloy (designer collection) retails for $39.95 and touch (CMKY + W collection) retails for $19.95.

2.  PHX Pen by Chadwick Parker and Joe Huang
This was Chadwick and Joe's first pen project launched on Kickstarter. As of right now, they have a total of nine out of 11 successful projects.

Do I like it? Absolutely! This is my favorite pen as of right now. I've been using it since the day I receive it. I have three of it; black, blue, and the other one changes from time to time but it's pink now. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no indicator of the pen colour, so it is troublesome because I have to constantly open and check to see if it is the colour that I want to be using.

Where can you purchase it? If you're from United States, you can purchase it from here. Meanwhile for those outside of United States can purchase it from here. It retails for $29 and that includes shipping cost to anywhere in the world.

3. Solid Titanium Pen + Stylus by Chadwick Parker and Joe Huang
Yeap! The same boys again. I want to get this bad boys, however time after time, my brother tells me not to because I've lots of pen already but fact is I don't. One of these days, I'll be getting this bad boys. One main reason I want this bad boy badly is because it can be used with Montblanc fineliner refill. Fret not, if you're not a fan of Montblanc fineliner, it is compatible with over 30 plus refills, ranging from Montblanc to Pilot to Uniball and so forth (click here for the list).

Where can you purchase it? It is available on their website. For US buyers, click here for the solid titanium model - retails for $75 and here for the solid aluminum model - retails for $59. Outside of US, click here for the solid titanium model - retails for $75 and here for the solid aluminum model - retails for $59. All prices are inclusive of world wide shipping fees.

4. Prometheus Writes: A Premium Three-Piece Executive Pen by Prometheus Light
This pen was made to fit Montblanc fineliner and rollerball refill.  We all know how expensive Montblanc pens are, even with the cheapest range, it ain't cheap. However, their refills are relatively affordable, around $15 if you get it from here but if you could get from Amazon or eBay, I'm sure you could get it for much less than that.

I think the design is just simply amazing and I wanted to back it so badly but my brother once again object. He said he would lend me daddy's Montblanc but only to find out that daddy's Montblanc are ballpoint (as a result it can't fit fineliner or rollerball refills). So I missed out on this one big time!

Where can I purchase it? Right now this is on pre-order, to do so click here. The aluminum model will retail for $150 and titanium model will retail for $240. However if you pre-order it now, the aluminum model is $75 and titanium model is $120. If you're outside of the US, you have to add extra $10 for shipping cost.

I remember my first multifunction pen was back in 2004 or 2005, it was from Rotring. I was nuts over that brand when I was in high school - I'd say it is one of the most premium brand for compass (for mathematics, not directions). I absolutely adore mine, I never like the normal compass because it is flimsy and I can never draw a perfect circle with it. With my Rotring compass, I never had any problem drawing circle, semi-circle, etc. The best part of it all was I could use it with mechanical pencil instead of the usual 2B pencil (again I hate 2B pencil, I hate having to constantly sharpening them). So it was the most perfect compass for me. When I saw their 4-in-1 pen (black, blue, red, and mechanical pencil), I just had to have it and I did everything my mother asked, just so she would buy it for me. When I have it, I didn't quite like it because again - large tip. My handwriting was absolutely hideous using the pen, so I mainly use it for its mechanical pencil.

So when I saw this project on Kickstarter, I told myself again that I need to have this and proceed on with my backing. I can't wait to get this in January 2014 and I do pray that the tip is small as in the picture or I'd definitely be devastated. I backed for their Stainless Steel model, which cost $45 (early bird special price) + $8 for their mechanical pencil cartridge + $10 for shipping outside US.

Aside from worrying about the tip of the pen, I'm also worried that I would not be receiving the pen - they've no history of projects/ backing of any projects. They are like the new kid in the block, so I guess it is normal to be worried. On top of that, they've not done any update since the project was successfully funded - so I can't wait for that either. I guess as long as they meet their deadline, I'd be fine.

6. Polar Pen by Andrew Gardner
This is the COOLEST PEN/ STYLUS ever made. It is the world's first modular pen made from magnets! I think everyone should at least own one of this pen! It is not only stunning but it has lots of features - for example, it can be used as a card holder, it can be used as a compass, and so forth. Furthermore, you can stick it on your fridge, so the next time you need a pen while you're in the kitchen you know where to find it. You no longer have to go through the hassle of walking around the house looking for a pen anymore. This is just simply brilliant

If you want this, it is still an on-going campaign on Kickstarter. I am confident that Andrew would be able to deliver this pen to all backers. He responds to all queries made and as a backer himself to numerous projects, I believe he understands what all backers want in return aside from just the rewards - communication. I have full faith in him and in the success of this project! I can't wait to get my hands on mine in February 2014.

If you're interested, the rewards are as follow:
If you're interested to upgrade to 24k gold;
===> 2 magnets (fridge magnet), you have to add $2
===> Card holder, you have to add $3
===> Stylus (mini stylus), you have to add $4
===> Pen, you have to add $7
===> Pen + Stylus, you have to add $7

If you're interested to upgrade to 24k gold or add chrome balls;
===> 2 X Pen + Stylus, add $5 to upgrade one pen to 24k gold; add $10 to upgrade two pens to 24k gold; and add $20 for 26 chrome balls.

 For this package, add $30 for 6 stylus tips + 6 magnets; add $35 for 6 clips.

All prices for Polar pens are inclusive of shipping and are in Canadian dollars.

Those are all the pens that I am interested in/ backed/ owned from Kickstarter.
