Rant #1: PayPal Experience

I had the worst experience with PayPal yesterday. Just so you're wondering, I have two PayPal accounts, one Malaysian account and one Australian account. I've never used my Malaysian account until recently. My Australian account on the other hand was quite active back when I was studying in Australia. I often shop on eBay and online stores back then and I sold quite a number of items on eBay too. I never encounter any problem until when I wanted to pay William Painter for my orders.

Initially, I told Matt to send a request to my Malaysian account but I kept receiving a notification that goes something like this "We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now". So after trying numerous times, I gave up and asked Matt if he could send a request to my Australian account because I was pretty sure it wouldn't have any problem seeing that my Australian account is a verified account and I have used it countless of times and not once have I faced any problems. To my dismay, I received the same notification except this time it goes something like this "Sorry, we can't move forward. We couldn't confirm you're the account owner". F#ck this s#it. Matt probably thinks I'm trolling him. I'm sorry Matt but PayPal is being a b!tch.

First I called their Australian customer service and it was a complete nightmare. Initially, the lady was like "miss your account looks fine from our end" and I was like but I can't send money to people. Then she put me on hold. By the time she got back to me she was like "I'll be transferring your call to one of our specialist, she should be able to solve your problem" and I'm like "okay thank you that would be wonderful". When the second lady came on the line, she said she would reset my account for me and I would be able to send money later on but I would have to clear my computer's cache. I said my thank you. But, yes but when I tried sending money after I cleared my cache and what not, I received the same notification "Sorry, we can't move forward. We couldn't confirm you're the account owner". Are you kidding me? I just wasted 30 minutes of international phone call for nothing!

I got fed up and went back to the Malaysian PayPal website and search for their contact us link. It was a complete nightmare. I had to make seven calls in total to make my payment to William Painter. Seven friggin' times. The calls alone cost me RM23. F#ck this s#it. I can't tell you how mad I am with PayPal at this point. I asked if I had to make calls every time I send money to people or make payments through PayPal and they keep telling me "no, it's not every time. It is only this one time because you've never make payments with my PayPal so activities like these are flag and block to prevent fraud". But that's all b#lls#it because every single time I want to send money, I had to call them. At one point they even blocked me from adding one of my cards into their system. When I called the customer service, she wasn't really as helpful as I thought because she said she has reset my account and I would be able to add it back after 15 minutes but even after half an hour I still can't add it back. I had to make another call and only then was I able to add it back immediately after the new representative reset my account for me.

I wasted RM23 on calls and my entire morning (9AM-12PM) to get the payment through. It was a complete nightmare. I don't know what's wrong with PayPal but if I have to keep calling every time I want to make payment or send money, I think I would definitely find another alternatives because phone calls aren't cheap and some of their customer service representatives aren't helpful. I need to call two to three times to inquire about the exact same thing for it to be done.
