Review: OneDesigner(s)
Have you ever thought of buying branded goods but you're looking to buy from Europe because apparently it is much cheaper over there? Well look no further, One Designer is here to help you. They'll be your very own personal shopper in Europe.
For 2014 Valentine's Day, I received a Salvatore Ferragamo wallet but I have since threw it away. I want nothing to do with it. You can read about it here. As a result, I don't have a wallet and I'm stuck in a small city that doesn't seem to sell a decent wallet that I like. To be honest, I love the SF wallet very much. The ribbon is my favorite part of the wallet and also it is the buckle kind instead of the zip kind so it's easy to open close. I didn't want the same thing despite liking it very much because it would just somehow reminds me of that arse-hole.
I've been following OneDesigners on Instagram since they started. I'm always awed with their collections or purchases they've made for their clienteles. They purchase from a wide variety of branded brands from Hermes to Chanel to Dior to Louis Vuitton to Charlotte Olympia and the list just goes on and on. Sounds like a dream job right? I mean going to all these branded boutiques to shop for people. I'd give up my day job for it anytime. LOL! I'm just kidding.
Anyways, I made my very first Chanel purchase through them. If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere before that you would be paying exactly the amount that you would pay in a Chanel boutique, or Hermes boutique, etc in Europe. There are no extra service or handling fees. So I thought why not since it will be equivalent to the amount that one would pay in Europe, which would be so much cheaper than me purchasing it on my own at a Chanel boutique in Malaysia.
When I saw the above picture, I instantly fell in love with it, mainly for its color but they couldn't find it unfortunately. So I kept browsing for a wallet until I stumbled upon the Chanel Boy wallet and I knew then that's the one I want. This is so embarrassing to admit but...I didn't know that they had wallets for Chanel Boy range (God I'm so backdated and I just can't keep up with anything. LOL!). Jeez! What am I looking for again? Out of all the designs Chanel have, the Boy is my favorite but it comes with a hefty price tag so...it never cross my mind that I'd ever have it...until they made a wallet, of course.
Few hours later, she sent me the above picture. I was busy at the time and I only notice that it was in silver color (again favorite color) but because I just saw it like for a brief second, I didn't realized it was patent leather and agreed to buy it. When I realized that it was patent leather, which was already late in the night and I had already approved the purchase...I just had one hope that is I'd like it when I see it. But...I'm still unsure of how I feel about it. I should have went with the black with Ruthenium hardware though. Hmmm... I might just sell it on eBay one of these days and get the black with Ruthenium hardware maybe.
Only after my month long work trip in Vietnam, I collected the wallet from them. It came with everything and also a Chanel paperbag, exactly like how you would get yours when you purchase it from a Chanel boutique, except without the white Camellia flower. When I open the box, the wallet was placed inside a dust bag (love the velvety soft feel to it and how thick and heavy it is), and there too was a photocopy receipt inside the box. Can you guess how much the wallet is retailing for in Euro? I can tell you one thing for sure, my heart, figuratively fell when I saw it.
It was €660. According to today's Maybank Forex rate which is 4.0050, it would be just a mere RM2,643.30. I believe the rate on the date they purchased it on 9th April was around today's rate too, if not lower by 0.0466 following Bank Negara's Forex rate. I can't check the historical rate with Maybank's website, so I'd make do with Bank Negara's.
Anyways, let's just say we round it up to RM2,650 or RM2,700, I've just paid RM700 or RM650 more dearer than what they've paid at the Chanel Boutique in Europe. Last week while I was in KL for a long weekend break with my brother, I went to the Chanel Boutique in KLCC to inquire about the retail price for a Chanel Boy wallet, and guess how much the saleswoman quoted? RM3,400. I'm not sure about you but saving RM50 doesn't seem to worth the hassle though.
Would I recommend OneDesigner(s)'s service?
It depends. If you are certainly sure they're selling at a much cheaper price than the boutiques in your country, I don't see why not?
First, you don't have to worry about is the authenticity because it is 100% authentic. Secondly, it comes with everything - boxes and what not, exactly like what you'd get if you purchase it from the boutique yourself. Thirdly, if you're lucky, they might sell something that you can't find in stores or is currently sold out at the stores near you. Especially when it comes to Hermes, they are able to get all those limited colors that people are usually after and they're definitely much cheaper than eBay. And like those Fendi Karlito keychain, you might just as well buy it from them than from eBay. Well, that's if you're crazy or rich enough to pay RM3,950 for the Fendi Karlito Mini keychain.
