KBeauty Review #1: TonyMoly

Ever since Descendants of the Sun, I've been hit by the K-bug (K for Korean). I'm not only drawn to Song Joong Ki but I'm going all out to try Korean beauty products too, mainly their facial masks.

Apparently, Koreans' beauty products are a whole lot better as compared to Westerns' ones but this is not what this post is about. If anything, I love Mario Badescu's facial products very much and I can't stop raving about it, not just in my blog but also to my families, friends, and random strangers who compliment my skin (despite my acne scars, which I can't seem to get rid of yet, there are still some people who would tell me that my skin "shines" or have that "radiant glow" and ask what do I use).

What you should know about me - despite being 24 years old, I do not put on make-up on a daily basis. The only time, one would be able to spot me with make-up would be on a very "special occasion" such as graduation. I know there's a saying that goes something like "women should not leave their house bare face" but I do. It's not to say that I don't care about my looks at all because I do, just to a certain extent. And I just don't care enough to wake up an hour or two earlier just to put on make-up or even CC or BB cream. And yes, I go to work bare face too.

The two masks that I will be reviewing in this post is the TonyMoly's Strawberry Seeds 3-Step Nose Pack and the TonyMoly's I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet - Moisturizing.

1. TonyMoly's Strawberry Seeds 3-Step Nose Pack, RM14.90

Product Description: This 3 step complete blackhead care nose pack opens pores, extracts blackhead, and closes pores.

There are so many rave reviews about how this is one of a staple product for blackhead removal and some even call it a "holy grail" product. Unfortunately for me, this product just didn't do its job at all. I followed every single steps written on the back of the packaging but....look at the result.

Yeap, as you can see from bottom right picture, there were only a few disgusting blackheads on it. By few, I mean two. Extremely sad. I had high hopes for this product but nevertheless, it is what it is. I've yet to find any strip pore products that could extract more than a couple of blackheads from my nose. 

Would I repurchase this mask?

Nope! For RM14.90, the least I would expect from this strip is to be filled, or half-filled with blackheads and not just two blackheads.

The next one I'm looking forward to try is from a Taiwanese brand called My Scheming. Their Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set have lots of rave reviews online. If you have use this product before, do share with me your thoughts of it and whether it was effective for you or not.

I can't seem to find it here in Miri, so I might have to wait till my next trip to Taiwan to purchase it. I might end up broke and homeless after that trip though because the list of things I want to get is just unbelievably long - from stationeries to Matcha milk tea to facial masks....

2. TonyMoly's I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet - Moisturizing, RM6.90

Product Description: 100% natural pulp. 3 layered pulp sheet prevents evaporation. Highly absorbable adherable sheet. 5 free-parabene, talc, benzo-phenone, troethanolamin, artificial. Soothing, hydrating/ regenerate acne scar.

The mask fits perfectly on my face. The essence in the packaging was more than enough - I was able to spread it all over my face and slightly below my neck area too. TonyMoly claims that the Aloe Mask Sheet is highly-concentrated hydration and highly moisturizing, and indeed it is. When I had the mask on, my skin felt extremely cool and refreshing. The morning after using the mask, my skin felt really soft and hydrated, even after washing it ❤.

Would I repurchase this mask?

Without a doubt. I do find that my acne scars are slightly lighter than it was before applying this mask, however it could be me hallucinating. I'd definitely repurchase this in bulk (not so soon) and try to use it for a month on alternate days to see if it really does lighten my acne scars. I'll write up a full review about it when I do include this step in my night time regime.
