I need a backpack!
I need a backpack! The thing about sling bag is that the weights are not being distributed evenly, resulting in carrying a very heavy bag especially when I carry around one thick A4 size notepad, an iPad, a Mili King battery bank, pencil case, keys, etc. It doesn't help when the wind is strong too.
What backpack should I get? The first brand that came to mind was Crumpler, I used to love their backpack design but after browsing their online store I decided against it. I didn't like the design or worst the colour. Well, to be honest, Crumpler was the only brand that cross my mind. So I need a plan B. Like always, Google was my answer. Googled backpack and saw this brand Herschel, well it's kind of a well known brand for a backpack I think? They've some pretty cool old skool kind of design. I like their Little America (picture below on the left) but it got me thinking that maybe it is a tad too big for me? I'm not sure. So I put off the thought of purchasing a backpack because I want something I like and would use. Until I saw a picture of Kristen Stewart carrying a yellow backpack and I was sold! I need that yellow backpack. Not because Kristen Stewart owns it but because it just stands out and calls to me, if you know what I mean. In short, I love it! As a matter of fact, Herschel has a similar design to it too called Survey (picture below on the right).

I started googling for the brand of the yellow backpack that Kristen Stewart used and it's by a Swedish company called Fjallraven. They're known for their outdoor equipment, mostly clothing though. And I wasn't only in love with the yellow backpack, I love their Kanken backpack (picture below on the left) too. It has such a unique design for backpack, don't you think so? It's not something you'll typically see around or at least not in Kuching and so far haven't seen anyone carried it in Melbourne yet but I bet there are people who owns it.

After much consideration I still want the yellow Fjallraven Foldsack No. 1 backpack but it cost $110 and that's the cheapest I could find. So I thought you know, maybe I should save until I saw the Karmaloop April's fool offer that is 20% discount + $8 discount on shipping charges for International shipping + $10 voucher on the next purchase in Karmaloop, so after deducting all the discount the backpack cost roughly $95 and if you deduct the $10 voucher, it costs $85 which I'd say is a bargain because I can't possibly find any other cheaper alternatives so I just had to purchase it before I could get my hand on such an offer again. Currently Karmaloop has a 10% discount + $8 discount on shipping charges for International shipping so the April's fool promotion is definitely a bargain and all I can say is I can't wait for it to arrive. I'm definitely looking forward to it and I hope it turns out to be exactly like what I expect it to be - I mean colour wise. I'm so stoked!

In all honesty, I'd have purchase the Kanken if only Karmaloop has the colour that I wanted which was the Forest Green and Ox Red (picture above) but unfortunately they only have that colour for the Kanken mini which is far too small for me. The other colours weren't as appealing so I got the Foldsack since it was also love at first sight for me. I'll end this post with the picture that I saw and made me fall deeply, madly in love with the Foldsack backpack.

Update: So I've been using this backpack for months now and I can't tell you how much I love it. A lot isn't good enough. I can fit two large textbooks in it and still doesn't feel heavy. I'd definitely recommend this bag to anyone who's looking for a backpack though I wouldn't go for yellow if I get to pick all over again. I mean I love the colour, it is as expected but it gets dirty easily. I'd probably go for the dark blue or black.
Got one...like it...very much!!
